- Construction Technology And Building ServicesThe module extends a basic appreciation of construction technology and environmental science principles developed at I evel 1 from domestic to commercial and industrial construction. It highlights links between related aspects of the design, site practice, and operation of bu ii din gs and services installations including building performance at the point of occupation. Throughout the module, emphasis will be placed on means employed by building designers, developers and man agers to accommodate the needs of clients, bui I ding users and to assess the building's impact on the public and the environment.0
- Procurement And Contract PracticeThis topic most likely to be explored are: Law and its role in the Construction Industry, Planning Law, Building the Team/ Construction Professionals, Traditional Contracts, Design and Build Contracts, Management Contracts, Sub-Contracting. Collaborative Contracting, Tendering Procedures etc. In addition to the I earning outcomes, the education experience may explore, develop and practice but not formally, discreetly, assess the following: use of on line databases for research, development of academic literacy (both research and writing), and Iran slat ion of theoretical/academic kn owl edge into ·real world. application. Students wi II also have opportun iii es to practice professional skills such as organization, problem solving. and researching information to provide commercial advice.0
- Development And Design EconomicsThis module aims to provide a framework of study that wil I extend and develop students' learnin g through the practical application of techniques to prepare students for future work experience in their placements and later as graduates. Outline of syllabus as follows Identification and evaluation of markets; project finance, fin ancial appraisal of proj eels, preparation and presentation of project budgets and cashflow forecasts. Methods of development appraisal, in cl uding residual valuations, option appraisal, land valuation and sensitivity testing. Cash Flow appraisal. Design economics including the establishment of value criteria, cost model ling. critical appraisal of cost data and application of whole life costing techniques. Introduction to development and project risk management and the cost implications of sustainable development0
- Professional Practice For The Built EnvironmentThis module has three primary aims; the first to prepare the students for their working careers. The second is to deliver advanced academic skills in anticipation of performing critical writing. The third is to engage the students with the evolving nature of professional practice in the built environment and the digital based skills required to thrive in it. In addition, the Learning Outcomes educational experience may explore, develop, and practise but not formally discretely assess the following: Make use of online databases and library catalogue and demonstrate academic literacy Learn how to use onli ne tools and techniques to find, analyse and extract meaning from multiple data sources.0
- Collaborative PracticeThis module provides an opportunity for students to understand, develop and apply a range of interdisciplinary skills and ways of working in order to reinforce the interprofessional nature of practice in the development sector, the students will undertake roles in the process that are appropriate to the learnin g they have acquired on their indivi dual programmes and the roles they are Iikely to undertake in their future professional lives. The aims of the module are to equip the students with the ability to recogni se the range of choices implicit at the different stages of the develop- ment process, and to make informed and appropriate decisions based on the assessment of relevant factors and data, utilising a collaborative approach.0
- International Cost ManagementThe International Cost Management module aims to: Integrate the core quantity surveying studies in a project learning context Develop cost planning skills and methods to evaluate the business case and strategic options for construct ion projects Add breadth and depth to students· expertise in measuring and costing complex construction works , including bu ii ding services and civil engineering works Introduce a European/international dimension to level 3 studies In addition to Learning Outcomes, the education al experience may explore, develop, and practise, but not formally discretely assess, the following: Negotiating a personal brief, within in a team context.0

Formulate estimating and pricing strategies to suit external and internal factors and understand their impact on contractor profitabIlity. Evaluate the time cost relationship with reference to critical path programming and construction and design methodology and man age best value. Evaluate production risk in formulating construction strategies, information, time, cost, quality and health and safety control and manage contractor best value. Comply with statutory procedures involved in valuations and payments used in the construction industry.0
